Welcome, welcome, welcome, to another S&M Comedy Podcast! Sit down, have a cup o’ coffee, and maybe a King Doughnut or two!
Today’s interview is the second half of our conversation with Tucson’s own Gary Hood! Harken back to last week- you heard Gary talking about his introduction into comedy and showbusiness, so this week, you’ll get to hear about his takes on comedy, modern comics, and the many helpful lessons and valuable ass-kickings he’s received along the way.
You’ll hear Gary talk about one of those very valuable lessons, one of the ways he lives his life to this day- humility, responsibility, generosity of spirit. That’s the way he runs the room there at Laff’s, that’s the way he’s treated local comics that he’s taken under his wing, and that’s the way he treats national headliners passing through and playing Laff’s.
Get down to Tucson and get to know Hoodie a little bit. Tell him S&M Comedy says hi. You’ll be glad you did. We know we’re glad we did.
Wednesday night at Hidden House, Charlie Speez, Dave Schnier, John Higbee, Jas Clay, Gavin Bloom, Erin Ontko, Jeff Turbitt and Avi Cohen will all be taking the stage at 9pm! Well, not all at once- the stage isn’t that big.
Thursday night at Monkey Pants, get your mouth stuffed with $4 bacon wrapped deep fried hot dogs smothered in nacho cheese and your ears stuffed with jokes from Michael Turner, Andy Steinberg, Anthony Desamito, Chris Centanni, James Mabry, Jim Bambrough, John Santos, Rachel Cepeda, Aaron Miles, Kelly Stewart and Vinnie Salazar; and your pants stuffed with joy, and your gullet stuffed with beer. I think that’s enough stuffing. Free comedy at 8.30; fish racing at 11; varoius stuffings all night long!
This Friday, S&M Comedy Presents…Poetry Slim! One of our favorite shows of all time, comics always nail this one to the wall. Come out to Space 55, 636 E Pierce St at 10.30pm, and get a load of our tremendous lineup of dickweed comics dropping hilarious haikus, silly sonnets, and fuckloads of freeform fuckery!
Go to Laff’s website and check out the upcoming shows you could take a little trip and see!
